Dietitian
Renique van der Vyver
Renique van der Vyver is a compassionate and experienced registered dietitian with a personal and professional passion for nutrition and wellness. After matriculating in 2007, she spent time overseas where she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes—an experience that profoundly shaped her outlook and led her to pursue a career in dietetics.
She earned her degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, followed by a postgraduate diploma in dietetics. Renique completed her community service with the South African Military Health Services in Port Elizabeth, before opening her first private practice in East London. She then gained nearly a decade of experience as a medical representative, further expanding her clinical knowledge and communication skills. Following the birth of her youngest son in 2023, she returned to private practice full-time to support a more flexible, family-centered lifestyle.
Renique offers a range of services aimed at simplifying nutrition and promoting healthy lifestyles. Her practice focuses on helping individuals and families establish sustainable eating habits, with a special emphasis on early childhood nutrition and diabetes care. As a mother of three, she deeply understands the challenges parents face in fostering healthy eating habits in children. She believes these habits should be nurtured as early as the introduction of solid foods.
Renique’s approach is rooted in empathy, practicality, and balance. She believes that there is no such thing as a “diet”—only small, purposeful adjustments to support health, tailored to each person’s unique needs. Her own journey with diabetes gives her a special insight into managing chronic conditions, and she brings that understanding into every consultation.
She thrives in a collaborative, team-based environment and values the holistic approach to care at EPSWI, where practitioners work together to support each client’s full wellbeing.
Beyond her practice, Renique is passionate about community education. She frequently shares her expertise on local radio, offering practical, accessible guidance to help individuals and families live healthier lives. Her dedication to making nutrition understandable and approachable is a cornerstone of her work.
Renique is a proud wife and mom to three beautiful boys aged 14, 8, and 2. She lives by the belief that: “The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine, or the slowest form of poison.”
